The Swedish economy has recovered faster than expected from the financial crisis and the domestic as well as external trade is going well. The Swedish consumer market is strong and even small companies, which have had a hard time during the crisis, are gaining in strength. Swedes and Swedish companies are looking at international markets for trade and economic growth. Sweden is dependent on international trade and according to the Eurobarometer, 72 percent of the Swedish people believe that they benefit highly from international trade, compared with the EU average of 44 percent. Further, the Eurobarometer shows that future priorities for Swedish companies lie in increasing the international competitiveness with a focus on environmental and corporate responsibility issues.” Those very positive signals from The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce late 2010 have been confirmed by the year results of Swedish multinationals as Electrolux, Scania, IKEA and Akzo Nobel among others.
The Swedish Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to another exiting Chamber Year and we are especially looking forward to welcoming Swedish companies to the Dutch market and to introduce them to our flourishing business network. In 2010 Sustainability and Innovation was highlighted on the Swedish Chamber of Commerce agenda and we will continue to keep them there and continue to learn, share and exchange experiences and expertise through Master Classes, seminars, company presentations and study visits.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to share your innovative ideas for the Chamber program! Perhaps you have an idea about an issue or event that might be of interest for a special branch or region or something that has not been done before by the Swedish Chamber. Ambassador of Sweden Mr. Håkan Emsgård and Mrs. Karin Emsgård on January 20. A week before the JCC Kicked-off with New Years drinks and company presentation at “Are You Swedish?”. Many years ago the Swedish Olympic Gold Medalist, Tomas Gustafson, was successful at the skating rink of Deventer. Today, the city of Deventer and Sportbedrijf Denveter are rebuilding the skating rink with an arctic theme inspired by Sweden and Östersund. Together with their indoor Swimming pool it will become a new national recreation & sports park. Starting In mid March the Skating Rink in Deventer will get a significant makeover. The new skating rink will be part of a sustainable, educational and sportive theme park with a number of typical Swedish influences. The park offers a great opportunity for Swedish and Dutch companies to expose themselves and Managing Director Mr. Aschwin Lankwarden is very pleased to invite companies to contact him to discuss promotion opportunities.

In March the members of the Deventer skating club will get the possibility to visit Östersund by joining the exclusive holiday program ”Expeditie Noordpool” organized by IJsburo.nl. Besides a lot of skating at the lake, Storsjön during this week there will also be opportunities for biathlon and husky experiences.

Sportbedrijf Deventer is very pleased to invite the members of The Swedish Chamber of Commerce for a special network event on June 15, 2011 and to the official reopening by H.E. Ambassador Mr. Håkan Emsgård on September 30, 2011.
