Filippa K in Holland Filippa K has grown rapidly in Holland the last years. The brand stores in Amsterdam, Hague and Rotterdam together with the 70 premium retailers around the country have established the brand in Holland. There is an obvious match between Filippa K and the modern Dutch woman and man. The aim is to increase the access to the brand further and Filippa K is looking forward to the plans for 2012 which amongst others include an extension of the collaboration with Bijenkorf.
The Filippa K Story – We design for ourselves and our friends, who live modern lives just like we do”, Filippa Knutsson, Founder of Filippa K Simple fashionable garments with a clean design. Essential pieces to build a wardrobe around, easy to combine and long-lasting in both style and quality. That was the start of Filippa K in 1993 and is still the essence of the brand today. Based on real needs and real experiences, Filippa K offers fashionable style solutions for the challenges of modern life. By doing so we help women and men, on the move, to look fashionable and feel comfortable whatever the situation. Filippa Knutsson is one of the two founders of Filippa K. Having been educated in London, Filippa Knutsson returned to her native Stockholm in the mid-80’s to work for the successful family-owned fashion company Gul& Blå, initially as a buyer and later as a product manager. After six years Filippa decided to start her own business designing clothes that she felt were simply missing in the marketplace – uncomplicated yet modern clothes to suit every occasion. In 1993, Filippa Knutsson together with Patrik Kihlborg founded Filippa K. Designer Karin Segerblom who previously worked as a designer at Gul&Blå, also joined the company at an early stage. In its first year of trading, the three ran the design and business from home. Their entrepreneurial spirit together with a unique early design ambition, allowed the brand to grow very quickly. Today, Filippa K has developed from a ”kitchen table project” into one of Scandinavia’s most successful fashion companies, with a strong position in the fashion market as leading in modern minimalism, high quality and long-lasting wearable design. In November the Swedish Chamber of Commerce participated in a 3 days clean tech study trip to Sweden organized by Syntens and NoordConnect in co-operation with Honorary Counsul for North Netherlands, Mr. Lukas Joel. It was a most inspiring trip, presenting innovative sustainable solutions to waste water and new energy but also on how to manage the Clean Tech strategy and create new business opportunities. A third price at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce golf tournament 2011 - SAS ticket well spent!
At the Annual Golf Tournament of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, played this year on 24 May at Golfclub De Hoge Kleij, I was so lucky to win the third price, which was a SAS ticket to Stockholm. Since we visit Stockholm frequently, SAS agreed to my request to change the destination into another SAS Capital destination in Scandinavia: Oslo. A weekend together to Oslo was high on the wishlist of Marjan and me: I visited Oslo for work frequently in the late seventies and eighties, but Marjan was never able (or ’asked’ as she put it) to join. A mid-November weekend made up for this omission. We stayed at the stylish Hotel Continental, dined in the lively Theatercaféen and the recently opened trendy waterfront restaurant Onda (a project of the famous Norvegian chef Terje Ness) , attended Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake in the magnificent new Operahuset and made a city tour, which included a visit to the interesting Vigeland sculpture park and Holmenkollen, the site of Oslo’s famous s ki jumping area (photo). Today’s Oslo is a beautiful and lively town with many interesting sites and fantastic places for wining and dining. Expensive? It is all relative, the superior quality made certainly up for the strong Norvegian Crown. We had a great weekend in Oslo and nice direct flights from and return to Amsterdam with SAS! Hans Duijn

Mr. Hans Duijn, member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and former Board Member sends us a tip of a hotel well worth visiting in Norrköping situated about 2 hours drive south of Stockholm.
The Lamp Hotel The Lamp Hotel in Norrköping, owned by Ronny & Lotta Waldauis a fresh, new boutique hotel with a pleasant mix of chic and raw design. The structure is a total makeover of seven originally 17th century buildings. The result is awesome. Well balanced colours in silver and gray in the central areas, a beautiful choice of rooms in ‘gold’, ‘silver’and ‘black’. A nice centrally located restaurant and bar and a unique inhouse dely (specialty: wagyu beef) for fast lunches or snacks. It seems that there is also a ‘ Dutch connection’ to the hotel. The idea for the name was born because of the oversized lamps in the central area, which are of Dutch origin. www.thelamp.se

AkzoNobel’s iconic global Dulux brand has just helped launch the Own a Colour website. Own a Colour is an online fundraising platform designed to raise over 16 million worldwide for UNICEF.
People are asked to buy a colour and share with friends to create an online buzz and help raise funds for this ambitious and worthy project. This initiative from AkzoNobel shows how colour can inspire change for good. Did you know your average computer, smartphone and tablet can display 16.7 million colours? So we want to sell each and every one of these colours to raise at least €1 for the children's charity UNICEF. All the money raised will go directly to help transform children's lives. Why not pick a colour now for yourself or buy one as a gift for someone you know and be part of the story?

50th Anniversary Celebration Innovation & Sustainability Conference and Royal Gala Evening By: Hans Duijn
On October 28, 2010 the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands celebrated its 50th Anniversary in the Hotels van Oranje in the lovely seaside town of Noordwijk. The Program started at 12:30 pm with the Conference on Innovation & Sustainability in the presence of H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and with a list of prominent speakers. A Royal Gala Evening with Princess Victoria and H.R.H. The Prince of Orange as honorary guests concluded the anniversary celebrations.
Conference Harry Starren, CEO of Management Training Centre ‘De Baak’, skillfully led the Conference on Innovation & Sustainability. With his amicable and disarming style he immediately relaxed the audience, which had entered the conference room somewhat tense, well aware of the honorary guest H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria in the front row. Subsequently the audience received a flood of information on innovative developments, both in Sweden and the Netherlands, contributing to a more sustainable use of energy and other natural resources and a cleaner world.
The new ambassador of Sweden in the Netherlands, H.E. Håkan Emsgård, opened the Conference with a reference to SymbioCity, the succesful co-operation on urban development between a network of consultants, contractors and system suppliers in Sweden. With more than half of the global population nowadays living in cities the SymbioCity model is key to a sustainable urban development throughout the world. | Read more >
