October 7, 2011 Spectacular Opening Ice Centre De Scheg in Deventer!
The Sport and Experience Centrum in Deventer inspired by the Swedish and Scandinavian nature and climate offers a complete winter park with an ice skating rink, ArticMoveCamp, play pool, Northern Lights and outdoor bbq. The official opening was conducted by Mr. Heidema, Major of Deventer together with H.E. Ambassador of Sweden Mr. Håkan Emsgård and on Saturday the doors opened for the public by among others, ex-skater Erben Wennermars. October 14, 2011 Swedish Collection launches book ‘FiftyFifty’
A unique book on special Volvos and special trees Co-authors Hans R. Blokzijl, owner of Bomencentrum Nederland (‘Dutch Tree Center)’and ‘the Green Pavilion’ in Baarn and Carlo Brantsen, chief editor of the Dutch autoglossy CARROS Magazine created with FiftyFifty a unique book in which 50 special Volvo models and 50 rare tree species are described. As they explain: “the one emits CO2, which is absorbed by the other to produce oxygen amongst others”. The brilliant photography is for a large part the work of top photographer Ingmar Timmer. The book was launched on the 14th October during a lively presentation at the Green Pavilion, attended by over 100 guests, including many prominents in the Swedish and Dutch business community.
FiftyFifty: an extraordinary book on 50 special Volvo’s and 50 special trees The presentation The Green Pavilion in Baarn, masterpiece of ‘green’ architecture, formed the beautiful décor of the lively presentation of the first copy of FiftyFifty, the extraordinary book on 50 special Volvo’s and 50 special trees. More than 100 guests assembled to attend the launch of this exceptional book, created by Hans R. Blokzijl, owner of Bomencentrum Nederland (‘Dutch Tree Center)’and the Green Pavilion in Baarn and Carlo Brantsen, chief editor of the Dutch autoglossy CARROS Magazine. Top photographer Ingmar Timmer put his mark on the book with brilliant photography. Among the guests many prominents from the Dutch and Swedish business community. Lex Kerssenmakers, member of the Managing Board of Volvo, came especially over for the occasion from Sweden. Honorary Counsil for Sweden in Amsterdam, Edgar Peer, represented the Swedish-Dutch links in the Netherlands. Prof. Dr Herman Wijffels, the ‘sustainability conscience’ of the Netherlands, addressed the audience in a video recording, in which he called Hans Blokzijl, who presented him with the first copy of the book, an exemplary ‘out-of-the-box’ entrepreneur. The authors Hans R. Blokzijl is an entrepreneur pur sang, owner of Bomencentrum Nederland (‘Dutch Tree Center’), a unique 25 hectares nursery of more than 120,000 large and special trees and the extraordinary Green Pavilion, which can host audiences up to 200 guests and which was built in accordance with Feng Shui principles, with only natural materials and asymetric forms. Hans also possesses a collection of more than 80 special Volvo models, of which the most unique samples are presented in the book. Carlo Brantsen’s profession is car journalist. He is chief editor of the well known Dutch autoglossy CARROS Magazine and he appears frequently as commentator in radio- and tv programs. Carlo has a weak spot for the brand of Volvo. The book The book is filled with exceptional photographs of Volvo’s against a décor of nature and beautiful trees. But, depending on your preference, it is hard to choose between the unique pictures of the Volvo PV444 and 445 series, or the sporty P1900 and P1800S, the Amazons, the 142-145 or the 200 series, to name a few. When you have admired all those glossy and shiny automobiles it is time to turn to the trees: beautiful pictures of special hickories, beeches, willows, mulberries, medlars and many more. All these trees are cultivated at the nursery of Bomencentrum Nederland in Baarn.
